Let’s have a little moment for our Grooms- what we like to call Grooms Coroner! Today we are looking into groomsmen responsibilities and duties as they play a big role in helping the Groom stay on task. Groomsmen let’s remember being a part of someone’s wedding day is a big honor.

Top 5 Groomsmen duties:

Here are out top 5 duties:

1.       Formalwear – It goes without saying that you’re going to have to look your best on the wedding day. The cost in purchasing or renting your formal attire for is up to the groomsmen

2.       Pre-Wedding - Attend all pre-wedding events, such as the engagement party, wedding shower, rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.

3.       3. Bachelor Party- help the best man plan and pay for the bachelor party. This can include offering ideas, researching, and booking flights and the hotel.

4.       Wedding Day Prep -In most cases, the groomsmen meet the groom at one central location to relax and get ready together.

5.       Party Starters- At the beginning of the wedding reception, you’ll be introduced, along with a bridesmaid. After you have fun taking center stage, it will be your job to keep the party going throughout the evening. If guest see that you’re having fun on the dance floor, it’s most likely they will join in too!

This easy approach is the definition of a win-win. The bride can be blissfully hands-off after selecting the color, each bridesmaid has her say in choosing the style she feels most comfortable wearing (right down to the fabric and length), and everyone is happy.

Completely Customized

Mixing up every last element—from fabrics, lengths, and silhouettes, to colors, prints, and embellishments—is the ultimate achievement in the world of mismatched bridesmaid dresses. But even when anything goes, it’s best to have at least one common factor from dress to dress (requesting powdery pastels as opposed to saturated jewel tones, for instance). Communicate the overall vision for your wedding day by creating a Pinterest board with your favorite styles and inviting your friends to claim their dresses, or choose an adaptable style like our Versa convertible dress and let each bridesmaid create her own look. Encourage them to put their own stamp on their looks by having fun accessorizing with jewelry, sashes, and shoes.

Ombré Blend

Selecting different shades of the same hue is a refreshing way to create a cohesive look, but requires a little strategy. Choose at least three tones–light, medium, and dark—to allow the color gradation of the ombré bridesmaid dresses to really come through. Think about designating the most impactful shade for the maid of honor, to let her stand out. If the party’s larger, you can also mix in pale neutrals–though they may not live in the same color family, their soft tones play well with any palette.

Who sits at the Head Table?

At the wedding reception the head table is where the Bride and Groom sit. From there it is completely up to you on who else you want to sit with you. Depending on the arrangement, some or all attendants and parents may join you. Remember there is no wrong choice, decide together and if all fails -- paper rock, scissors!  

The Sweetheart Table

A table for just the two of you, as you’ll be the focal point of the room. Traditionally, the groom sits on the right of the bride.  Our sweetheart table at the Wright House can be a 36” round or 4’ rectangle.

The Party Table

The party table is usually a rectangular table at the focal point of the room for the bride, groom, maid of honor, and the best man. The other attendants and their significant others may sit at the head table it there is enough space. Here at The Wright House we can fit up to 12-14 on a long rectangular table or two round table tops next to your sweet hear table with a grand total of 18!

The Family Table

This arrangement honors the couples parents by sitting them at the head table along with the maid of honor and the best man.

What about the ushers, ring bearer and flower girls? The rest of the bridal party can sit at a reserved tables closes to the bride and groom with other friends and family.

Wedding Tip:

Don’t order an extra head table center piece – save the money and use your bridesmaids and your bouquet in a vase as the centers for the table.  The bouquets will have a second purpose after the ceremony instead of being just placed at a random table forgotten.
